I’m just going to come out and admit it… I love apple cider vinegar!
For those of you wrinkling up your noses at the thought of dealing with this pungent-smelling liquid, give a girl a minute to explain 😉 I wrote an article about my obsession here, actually. But for our purposes today, I want to talk specifically about ACV and hair.
Among the MANY sources out there, Prevention [1] gives us a comprehensive list of some ACV benefits related specifically to hair. These include:
- Restore your scalp’s pH
- Remove product buildup
- Hydrate natural or curly hair
- Prevent or treat a dry, irritated scalp
- Restore shine
- Prevent hair loss
Need I say more? I mean, this stuff is SO serious (and we’re only talking about hair today…the list of other health benefits that ACV offers is LONG indeed).
The REAL reason I wanted to write this blog post today is because, the amazing Maple Holistics has done it ONCE AGAIN!! I swear, for those of you have been following me, you are well aware of my obsession with this brand — and for good reason…they produce super high quality products that I trust using on my whole family! So, when they asked me if I wanted to try their brand new ACV shampoo, I obviously jumped. And per the usual, they didn’t let me down in the slightest.
According to their website, these are its benefits:
Remove buildup, restore volume and boost shine with our new, hotly anticipated apple cider vinegar shampoo. One of the most powerful ingredients in personal care, apple cider vinegar provides a variety of benefits for hair and scalp alike. We tap into its full potential in our apple cider vinegar shampoo, providing you with a shampoo that soothes the scalp, removes buildup, clarifies and adds or restores shine. Enriched with natural ingredients like sunflower, argan and jojoba oil, our apple cider vinegar shampoo is sulfate and paraben-free making it great for all hair types, color treated hair, and sensitive skin.
You GUYS! My hair feels SOOOOO good after using this shampoo 💁♀️ To be fair, I should probably say a little bit about my hippie mentality concerning my hair, lol. So for one thing, I experiment a lot. And by experiment, I’m saying I’ve done the no-poo method, the baking soda and ACV wash method…I’ve made hair masks out of every food concoction you can think of (and side-note: when using eggs in one’s hair, beware of using hot water to rinse or you’ll scramble the eggs in your actual hair 🤣🤣). Just saying…I’ve kind of done it all! And for me to even be experimenting with “real” shampoos again is a testimony to a) my willingness to explore, b) my love of variety, and probably the biggest reason, c) I’m an exhausted mom of two little babes with NO TIME to crazy experiment like I did in my bygone kid-free days, lol.
But the point is this: this “real” shampoo checks the boxes that all of my experimenting was about to begin with:
- It’s sulfate and paraben-free.
- It isn’t chock-full of harmful chemicals.
- It includes ingredients I know and trust – apple cider vinegar, in this case!
- AND, this stuff WORKS SO WELL!!
My hair is super shiny, my scalp feels amazing, and generally, it hasn’t looked or felt this good from one product possibly EVER. Considering that I’m no spring chicken, and that I’ve probably tried a million things from my ‘tween years to today, it’s kind of a big deal to be able to say that, amirite?? So I’ll say it again just in case: THIS STUFF REALLY WORKS! Also, for those of you wondering, my hair doesn’t smell like vinegar at all 🙋♀️
I highly recommend you check this stuff out. You can shop the Maple Holistics site here. Your hair will thank you ☺️
Cheers to ACV!
Amanda
